![]() So I was wondering what kind of speeds other Vostro users might be seeing using both USB 3.3 external M.2 SSDs and Thunderbolt 3 or 4 external M. Doing file transfers with large number of image files is average about 108 MB/s, but the speeds during the transfer fluctuate wildly, from maybe 30 MB/s to 300 MB/s. Using the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test app, I am seeing write speed of about 400 MB/s and read speed about 800-900 MB/s. I also have a Plugable Thunderbolt 4 5-port hub, and I've been testing connected both to this hub as well as directly to the Vostro Thunderbolt 4 port. Since the volume is on your Startup Disk, you will see how fast it drive is. In Blackmagic select the disk image mounted. Mount the volume (if it is not already mounted). Make it big enough for Blackmagic to work with (7+ GB) and name it what you will. I don't have an enclosure that is Thunderbolt 3 or 4 yet, but I have one incoming soon. Create a disk image (.dmg) using the disk utility specifying file->new image->blank image. I have a variety of external enclosures and M.2 SSD, including an HP 500, and an XPG S70 Blade (which is supposed to be PCIe 4 and supposed to be able to do 7400 MB/s, and several M.2 SSD enclosures that I've purchased over time, including and Ineo "10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen2" enclosure and a Sabrent M.2. It also adds new Blackmagic RAW Plugins for Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer on Mac and Windows enabling greater support for editing software in Blackmagic RAW 1.5. Testing has been using both transfer of large number of photo images (both raw and jpegs) and also using Black magic Disk Speed test. Blackmagic RAW 1.5 adds a new cross platform version of Blackmagic RAW Speed Test for Mac, Windows and Linux. I have been trying to test the Thunderbolt 4 port on my Vos(running Windows 10 Pro). ![]()
